Is the whole world eventually going to use the same currency?

I've heard that the various countries in the UN are planning to convert all of the world's currencies into a single currency for every country throughout the world. Is this true?|||i'd say no, as it will overvalue, and under value alot of currencies|||We did a few hundred years ago. It was called: Gold

Then in the 1700s/1800s there was a shift towards Paper Money because then the government could control wealth and trade.

If the world moves back to a single currency, it should be a currency that governments do not control. A currency in which We The People control. Gold is the best international currency..|||Officially? Yep.

Since there is roughly a 100% chance widespread economic deprivation will therefore ensue, an increasing amount of the economy will "go underground" and trade with a medium that actually has value. People will use the "official" currency as tinder, insulation, a$$-wipes etc.|||Eventually this will probably happen, but I don't think it's in the immediate future.|||While it is likely to happen at some point in the future, I would not bet on it happening in the lifetimes of those alive today.
