What is the best currency to take to Bucharest, Romania?

I'm going to Bucharest, Romania on Saturday in the UK you cant get any Romanian currency. I have been advised to take US Dollars? But from your experience what is the best currency to take?|||If you are from UK., take Sterling and credit cards; no need to change your money twice. At the airport, don't change more than you have to, the rate is bad - far better to use banks(you will need to show your passport). Also, if you want a taxi from the airport, use an official one, or you will get ripped off! I was there last July.|||RON or euro. Please note that ROl vas denominated in 2005

|||Dollars|||the Romanian money is called LEU

1 leu = 2,70 RON

You'll find exchange offices every 10 meters so don't have to worry abt it.

have a nice stay|||The Currency in Romania is the RON and is about 1 US dollar = about 2.58 RON, 1 Euro = about 3.39 RON. It is better to have the local currency when in Romania. Euros are only used when paying in large amounts like rent or a car. You can go here in Bucharest to exchange your money http://www.bnr.ro/def_en.htm do not exchange money on the street you are libel to get ripped off. It will be harder for you to buy things if you are using another currency not all stores will accept other currencies it is also very easy to become confused when trying to pay with dollars while figuring out the conversion in your head, you are more likly to get taken advantage of that way.|||i find its better to use the pound in romania you can change it at the bank or at any exchange house|||A credit card or US dollars.|||US dollars are the best currency you can take anywhere.|||GBPs are OK. (Also, EUR and USD.) Still, you should have much cash on you. Most likely, 100 GBPs will do as a minimum reserve. Of course, you can take more cash. You can change GBPs at any exchange office. The rates are about 1 GBP = 5 RON.

At the moment, my preferred exchange option is BRD (a well-known local bank).

Credit cards are an option too, but a DEBIT card is much better. You can use common VISA or MasterCard varieties, while other brands are strongly not recommendable in RO.
