I have rare old currency that I need to have graded before having them auctioned. I notice there are several societies, but which one is most respected?|||There really are two "biggies" when it comes to currency grading.
CGA (Currency Grading and Authentication) http://www.cganotes.com/
PCGS is also well known. http://www.pcgscurrency.com/index.html
Plan on spending at least $20 per note to have them graded. If you don't have a firm grasp on grading notes, and an idea of what they're worth, I'd take them to a dealer first to see which ones he or she suggests be sent in.
Of course, I don't know what you have, or what your expertise level is--if you already know what's valuable and what isn't, you can skip the trip to the dealer.
