What currency is best to take to the maldives?

I am going to the maldives at the start of june all inclusive to kuredu and was wondering what the best currency is to take. I have heard that on resorts they take most currencies.|||No matter what the naysayers say, the US Dollar is still the preferred currency there and worldwide.

The Sterling Pound would also serve well.|||Claire, I would suggest taking the US dollar, as all prices of meals, drinks, ect outside of your all inclusive option is priced in US$ dollar. For all purchases, you sign a bill, and then settle at the end of your stay, so you do not have to worry about carrying money around with you. If you go out diving on the boats, would suggest you take a couple of dollars for the boat crew, so a 'stash' of $1 bills is a good idea. For tipping, its useful to take dollars, but of course, the staff will accept any currency. When it comes to paying for the extras, you can do this by credit card at the end of your stay. Hope this info helps, feel free to contact me if you have any other last minute questions about the currency or the island of Kuredu.|||an US dollar bills would be fine madam.. Euro and Pounds are acceptable also in this country... I prefer also not to buy their local currency so that the value of your dollar will not depreciate..
